SERVE as the Lord calls and lead by discovering and using spiritual gifts as God intended and committing to good stewardship.
Our Core Beliefs
There is only one true God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, who eternally exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. All things exist for the glory of God.
Deuteronomy 6:4 | Isaiah 45:5-6 | Romans 11:36 | 2 Corinthians 1:21-22
The Bible is God's message to man, recorded without error in the original manuscripts. It is true, authoritative, and sufficient. In sum, it is a perfect treasure of divine instruction for all of creation.
Psalm 19:7-11 | 2 Timothy 3:16 | 2 Peter 1:20-21
Mankind is the supreme creation of God, created to know, love and be like God in character. Every human is precious and valuable to God from the moment of conception.
Genesis 6:5 |Psalm 51:5| Psalm 139:13 | Romans 10:9-13
All of humanity is made in God’s spiritual, moral, reasonable, and emotional image. However, sin entered the human race through Adam. Sin corrupts all and leads us into sinful acts. Sin separates us from God and from eternal and abundant life. The deserved penalty for all sin is physical and spiritual death. Only Jesus’ act of obedience through sacrifice saves us from our sinful nature.
Genesis 1:27 | Genesis 2:15-17 | Isaiah 53:6 | Romans 3:22-24
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, born of a virgin. He is undiminished deity and perfect humanity permanently united in one person. Jesus Christ died as the sacrificial substitute to pay the penalty for all sin. He physically rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will one day physically return.
Mark 16:1-8 | John 3:16-17 | Hebrews 1:1-3 | Revelation 1:7
The Holy Spirit dwells within every believer from the moment of salvation. He provides every believer with gifts for service and with the fullness of God's power to make him adequate for living. The Holy Spirit is uniquely, mysteriously, and divinely united with God and Christ who, in sum, make up the Holy Trinity.
John 14:16-14 | Acts 2:38 | Romans 8:9 | Galatians 5:22-25
Salvation is the unearned gift from God to anyone who receives (through dependence) the provision that Christ's death is the sufficient and necessary requirement for eternal life. One can only be reconciled to God and experience true life and joy through faith in Jesus Christ, His work, and repentance from sin.
John 3:18 | Acts 4:12 | Ephesians 2:1-8 | 1 Timothy 2:5-6
There will be a future physical resurrection of the dead. Only those who turn from sin and towards Jesus in faith and repentance will be raised to eternal reward. Those who do not turn from sin and towards Jesus will be raised to eternal punishment.
Matthew 25:31-34 | John 5:28-30 | Acts 24:15
Baptism is an act of obedience to Christ that all believers are expected to participate in. It symbolizes our identification with His death, burial, and resurrection. As such it is reserved for those who have expressed their desire to be followers of Jesus Christ. Baptism is by immersion to illustrate the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. It is for the glory of God and joy of the church.
Matthew 3:13-17 | Matthew 28:19-20 | Colossians 2:12 | Romans 6:1-4 | 1 Peter 3:21
Our History
Our humble beginnings started with a core group of 13 men who had been praying for an opportunity to minister to cowboys, ranchers, and others not in the habit of attending church. Based on good music, a short sermon, food, fellowship, and roping, the group gathered by the Dumas Arena every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month. Two years later, God began to place a new vision in their hearts - to start a cowboy church. Cowboy Fellowship was born.
Pastor Pete Pawelek, an Atascosa County native, agreed to join and help launch the church. The first service on May 3, 2003 had 172 attendees in the Atascosa County Show Barn. Not long after, the church outgrew the Show Barn and built its current building, opening its doors in 2006. The original vision of ministering to cowboys and ranchers led the church to build a covered rodeo arena facility in 2012.
